How do I get started?

As an actor, should I have an online Demo Reel to promote my career?
If you even have to ask this question, you are already several steps behind the industry and the competition.
What makes a good Reel?
A good reel is a 2-3 minute compilation of your best acting work. The reel should flow at a brisk pace and leave the viewer with a good understanding of how to cast you. It should reveal as much of your talent, abilities, and personality as possible in a short window of time
Why should I have a website?
A website gives you an instant online presence. It provides a virtual home for your Headshots, Resume, and Reels. It allows you send out a single link to Casting Directors, Agents, Producers and Directors, that introduces them to your performing universe.
What do you need if you are editing my clips from Films and Television?
Get all of your disks together (we accept most formats). We will send you a log sheet. Go through your clips and let us know roughly where you think your best material is located. This saves you both time and money. We will then pull from the chunk of material and chisel it into a Reel that best tells your story. If you would prefer, you can sit down with one of our editors, and together the two of you will comb through all your footage and find the best available material. The rate for this additional service is $25 per hour.
What is the best material to choose for a Monologue/Scene Taping?
Use material from well-written plays, films, and television; or original material that you have a strong emotional connection to. Find a piece that highlights your strengths and abilities. It should show off your most marketable acting skills. We can also help you find an appropriate piece or write an original piece for you.
What do I need to do if I am having a Monologue/Scene Taped?
Thoroughly REHEARSE your material. Find a reliable scene partner. Send us a copy of the piece. This will allow us to develop a plan of production. If needed, a male or female reader, or scene partner is available for 1 or 2 Person Scenes, for an additional charge.
I don't have too much on-camera experience, can you help?
This is what sets us apart from the competition. Not only are we filmmakers, but we are trained actors as well. We understand an actor's process and work with them to fully realize their on-camera performance. We can send you our On-Camera Tip Sheet, that will inform you of all the basics and guide you towards living and breathing naturally on camera.
Where will the shoot take place?
Options include: Renting studio space in one of the many studios located throughout the city. Shooting at one of our locations in the Upper East Side or New Jersey. Or we can shoot at your place if you have adequate space.
Should I have a dramatic or comedic Reel?
It depends on how much footage you have available and how you plan to market yourself. Your Reel can be a combination of both styles, or you can have two separate Reels to help give you an edge in each market. Discounted Combo Packages are available.
Do I have complete control of my final product?
Yes. While we are confident you will be completely satisfied with the final product, you do have the power of veto. We can make changes to ensure your satisfaction. This is after all your Reel, and should be all about you and how you want to market yourself. Please read our Testimonials.
What if I need to update my Reel as I get more material?
We can store all of your project files on our hard drive for a one-time fee of $25. Bring us your new material; we will digitize it and incorporate into your pre-existing Reel. We value our returning customers and will price the project based on the size of the job.
What other services are included?
Our editors will balance out the sound discrepancies in your clips, use color correction techniques to cut down on clip contrast, and strategically use music to help bring dramatic and visual unity to the piece.
What if I am only starting out or have not accumulated many clips?
No Problem. This is where we excel. We will shoot a scene, a monologue and a series of short clips, to ensure you have strong material to turn into a Reel.
I have unique needs; can you cater a package to meet my needs?
Absolutely. Give us a call and we can come up with a plan together.
